Morinville Mixed Use Development

This unique development is an exciting addition to the Morinville landscape, adding commercial space on the main floor as well as providing much needed rental apartments for people aged 55+. Revolve worked closely with the entire project team including the architects to optimize the design of the building. By performing preliminary energy modelling to optimize the envelope and window designs, the team was able to select the optimal envelope design as well as select windows based on price and performance. Because of the space limitations on site, the team decided to drill deeper, opting for twenty 130 metre (425 ft) boreholes at the front of the building.

In close collaboration with the mechanical team, a hybrid design was chosen that will cover approximately 80% of the building's heating, cooling, as well as domestic hot water demands using the geothermal system, with the remainder coming from a backup boiler.
