This 175 unit residential development by the Salvation Army will serve the community's transitional housing needs and associated programs. The 7,400 m2 facility needed to reach very ambitious energy targets in order to secure grant funding. This meant completely revising the HVAC strategies to achieve an EUI of 80 kWh/m2/year. In order to achieve this target, a high performance envelope was paired with dual core ERVs and a geothermal system serving distributed water-to-air heat pumps. Solar PV generation was also added to the building (200+ kW). In addition to the geothermal system design, Revolve Engineering provided energy modelling and guidance to achieve this ambitious target.
