This new 3000+ m2 facility in High Prairie is intended to bring resources to learners in remote locations in Northern Alberta. Revolve Engineering and Manasc Isaac undertook a comprehensive study to demonstrate that Net Zero Energy was achievable for this building. Based on this report, Northern Lakes College decided to move ahead with the Net Zero design and the project is now complete and in operation (the Solar PV panels being added this year). The Net Zero design features an optimized glazing and envelope, dual core heat recovery, and a 27 borehole (150m deep) geothermal system. The building has no gas line connection and is fully electric.
