The Mahogany Community Centre is a 2140 m2 beach front community building in Calgary, AB. The building features a lake loop geothermal system that utilizes a large adjacent lake as a source for heating and cooling. The system uses two 80 mm (3") runouts that run almost 150 m from the building into the lake. Each runout is connected to five modules (on racks), each with three coiled circuits; for a total of 30 slinky coiled circuits. The lake loop heat exchanger system will provide the building with all of its heating and cooling needs for the life of the building while reducing energy use by over 70%.
